Top 10 Week! My Favorite Quotes of 2019

I love posting my favorite quotes! This is a list of my favorite quotes from books I read in 2019. They're in no particular order.

His eyes dart from the horizon to my red bikini and back again. “I saw that,” I say. He sips his drink. “Saw what?”“You checked out my chest.”“Of course I did. It’s like having two other people up here with us. I don’t want to be rude.”

"At the end of the day, we’re all just children pretending to be adults.”

"She had much she wanted to say to him, but she might end up knifing him by mistake."

"Face them all like a warrior, whether you are one or not."

“Tell the truth, or I'll hunt you down and use a dull, dirty knife to relieve you of body parts your missus might once have been fond of.”

"I just tossed a werewolf out of my cabin for trying to kill my kitten that's now a skunk, and tonight, I might turn into a wolf myself."

“Now,” the duke said, “there’s something I’ve been meaning to discuss with you, Holloway. Your wardrobe.”
Sebastian glanced down at himself. “What I wear is serviceable enough. I’ve had this
waistcoat for years.”
“And it deserves some rest to repay its decade of valiant service,” Rotherby noted. “A rake is
never dressed in clothing that’s old enough to marry.”
“After paying my rent, what’s left goes mostly to books.”
Rotherby snorted. “You must have a sizable library, then.”
“It’s not the size,” Sebastian replied drily. “It’s what I do with it. Very thick volumes.”

“It’s our brokenness that makes us who we are. Without the shattered pieces, our lights would never filter through to the rest of the world.”

"Hello, pecs. It’s good to see you both again. I’ve missed you. I wish you didn’t belong to the ogre."

“You have been in every way all that anyone could be.… If anybody could have saved me it would have been you.”

Book Review! My Fake Rake by Eva Leigh

My Fake Rake (Union of the Rakes #1) by Eva Leigh
Genre: Adult Fiction (Historical Romance)
Date Published: November 26, 2019
Publisher: Avon

In the first book in Eva Leigh's new Union of the Rakes series, a bluestocking hires a faux suitor to help her land an ideal husband only to be blindsided by real desire…

Lady Grace Wyatt is content as a wallflower, focusing on scientific pursuits rather than the complications of society matches. But when a handsome, celebrated naturalist returns from abroad, Grace wishes, for once, to be noticed. Her solution: to "build" the perfect man, who will court her publicly and help her catch his eye. Grace's colleague, anthropologist Sebastian Holloway, is just the blank slate she requires.

In exchange for funding his passage on an expedition leaving London in a few months, Sebastian allows Grace to transform him from a bespectacled, bookish academic into a dashing—albeit fake—rake. Between secret lessons on how to be a rogue and exaggerated public flirtations, Grace's feelings for Sebastian grow from friendship into undeniable, inconvenient, real attraction. If only she hadn't hired him to help her marry someone else...

Sebastian is in love with brilliant, beautiful Grace, but their bargain is complete, and she desires another. Yet when he's faced with losing her forever, Sebastian will do whatever it takes to tell her the truth, even if it means risking his own future—and his heart.

My Fake Rake is the first book in the Union of the Rakes series by Eva Leigh. I loved this story. The characters were fun. I'm always a fan of friends to more romances anyway, and this was pretty cute all around with a bit of naughtiness too. Grace and Sebastian are perfectly nerdy and adorable. They've been best friends for so long, neither is brave enough to take it further, and neither thinks the other wants to take it further either. I wish Grace didn't put so much effort into getting the attentions of another man for as long as she did, but I think her new emotions were causing her to feel completely tospy turvy. It made the girl act a bit wonky sometimes. I read this one super fast and enjoyed every minute of it. The characters were super fun, even the supporting characters were enjoyable. I can't wait for more books in this series.

The ARC of My Fake Rake by Eva Leighwas kindly provided to me by Silver Dagger Book Tours for review. The opinions are my own.
