Subversive is the first book in the Subversive series by Raena Rood. Basically, Christians have three options in this world. They can deny their faith, go into hiding, or be killed or imprisoned for their beliefs. I'm not sure how much of a reality the "prison" part is, because these folks seem pretty kill happy. It's complete good vs evil, and the evil has no tolerance for the good.. so bad things tend to happen to them. This isn't a gory book, but it is definitely dark. It's very believable too. I feel like things could easily turn this direction, and that's what makes it so scary. I'm definitely interested in reading more in this series. 

Raena lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and three children. When she’s not writing, she enjoys exploring historic battlefields (her kids always drag her up the tallest lookout towers), family movie nights that feature cheesy 80's and 90's action films, and daydreaming of expanding her backyard farm (goats are still under discussion). Her goal is to write stories that challenge, encourage, and remind readers that even in the darkness, when all hope seems lost, God is always in control.
