 Genre: Adult Fiction (Paranormal Romance)
Published: March 15, 2013
Publisher: Crescent Moon Press

The Blurb:
Just as Sarah is learning everything she can about her new abilities as an Indigo Child and settling into a normal life with her beloved Evan, her entire world shatters when Evan disappears without a trace. Desperate to find him, Sarah's attempts to uncover clues to his whereabouts end up leading her to a sadistic serial killer who confirms her worst fears are true, Evan has been kidnapped, and he is once again in the clutches of his brutal, abusive family of necromancers. Sarah's search leads her not only to the evil people of Evan's past he tried so desperately to protect her from, but also to The Key of Solomon, an ancient text for summoning the dead.

My Review:
Silencing Breath is the second book in the Stealing Breath Series by Joanne Brothwell. You'll need to read Stealing Breath before you start Silencing Breath so you can get the whole picture of what is going on. Check out my review here. Just like Stealing Breath, this book kept the action going! The antagonists don't mess around. They are sadistic and brutal. I was shocked by them, which only made me want to read that much more. I had no idea the book was going to go the direction it went, and I loved that! Sarah is four years older than she was in Stealing Breath, so she has grown up a lot, and I like her much better now. She is a fighter. There are a few more characters introduced within this book, and they all fit well within the story. The book covers in this series are absolutely gorgeous as well! Silencing Breath is an edge of your seat read! I'm really enjoying this series, and I can't wait for more!

I received the ARC of Silecing Breath by Joanne Brothwell from the author for review. The opinions are my own.

About the Author:

Joanne Brothwell lives in the country on the Canadian prairie where her stories are inspired by the dead things that appear at her doorstep on a daily basis. Of course, her two pets, a retired police dog with titanium fangs and a feral barn cat missing two toes, make the safety of surrounding wildlife, at best, uncertain.

Joanne is known to daydream, and ever since grade school has been accused of having a poor attention span. The truth is, she has an alternate reality inside her head, where characters speak to her, sometimes so loudly (and incessantly) she just can’t hear anything else!

Joanne is thrilled to see her alternate universe finally become real with the publication of her novel, Stealing Breath, and her prequel novella, Vicarious. Now, with the sequel Silencing Breath on the way, you can be rest assured you will see much more of Joanne’s writing in the future, as those characters in her head, having tasted the sweet freedom of release, simply refuse to be silenced!

Stealing Breath Tour! A Review of Stealing Breath by Joanne Brothwell

 Genre: Adult Fiction (Paranormal Romance)
Published: March 8, 2012
Publisher: Crescent Moon Press

The Blurb:
Deep in the backwoods of North Dakota, twenty-one year old Sarah Ross is searching for a missing child when she is attacked by a glowing-eyed, transparent... creature. Sarah survives, destroying the monster by using mysterious abilities she didn't even know she had. Bloody and bruised, Sarah flees the scene and runs directly into Evan Valente, a handsome, charismatic stranger who helps her back to safety. But what is Evan doing out in the forest at five in the morning? Turning to a healer, Sarah is shocked to learn her eyes bear the mark of the Indigo Child-an evolved human with the ability to feel the emotions of others. But her indigo aura also makes her an easy target for those who wish to consume her powerful essence. Soon, Sarah is falling deeply in love with Evan and wants nothing more than to follow her heart and trust that he is the man he says he is. But she can't ignore the lingering feeling that Evan is hiding a terrible secret. The deeper she digs, the more danger she faces, leading her on a course that will force her to face the darkest, innermost parts of her soul.

My Review:
Stealing Breath is the first book in the Stealing Breath Series by Joanne Brothwell.  There was hardly a dull moment which made Stealing Breath a quick read because I didn't want to put it down. Sarah was a strong, independent character. Although I think she took her independence a little too far at times when she'd venture off on her own like there aren't a bunch of people after her soul. Still, she was enjoyable. Evan was dark and mysterious. He has so many layers, and I enjoyed learning more and more about him as the story progressed. I loved all the different folklores that were woven within the story. That really kept things interesting. I still have many lingering questions, but I hope that the up coming books will answer them. I get the feeling there is so much more to be told about Sarah and Evan, and I'm excited to find out what's in store for them!

Stealing Breath Tour! An Interview With Joanne Brothwell

We're excited to have Joanne Brothwell, author of Stealing Breath, here with us today. If you haven't read Stealing Breath yet, don't forget to check out my review on November 21st and read the book for yourself!

authorHow long have you been writing?
I wrote my dad’s memoir ten years ago but then went on to have children. That put a wrench in having any kind of sideline passion! Once my children were old enough, my creative juices exploded out of me – and I had to compulsively write the first draft of the novel in three months.

What inspired you to write Stealing Breath?
I think the idea had been brewing in my mind for quite some time, and I just reached this point in my life where I thought, Hey- it’s now or never. On March 8th of that year I started writing, and three years later to the day, it was released.

Which of your characters do you relate to most and why?
Sarah definitely comes from a part of me, and as a young woman, I always wanted to be a  natural blond. Her personality is possibly a highly distilled portion of the best parts of my personality. Minus all of the negatives!

What is a secret about you that nobody else knows?
I`m an open book!

If your real life as a teenager was a Young Adult book, what would you, the main character, be
like?
I found myself relating to Bella from Twilight. I think that insecure, self-doubt is so common in young women, and it`s something I believe many girls and women can relate to.

What book have you read too many times to count?
The City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I`m going on four times now!

If you could hop into the life of any book character for a day, who would it be, and why?
I`d kinda like to be Anastasia Steel and check out just how kinky Mr. Christian Grey really is!

What is the best piece of writing advice you have ever received?
I can`t say there is one best piece, because there was so much great advice I`ve received over the years. If I had to pick, it would be the advice I got from Chuck Sambuchino, who I had the opportunity to speak to at the Surrey International Writers` Conference. He gave me great suggestions on how to tighten up my query letter, and all of his suggestions worked!

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
I was surprised to find out that my attempts at plotting simply don’t work. I think it’s the rebel in me, I just can’t feel constrained in any way. Plus, my characters seem to have a life of their own, and when I tell them they have to do something, they simply refuse.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
I like to read, watch movies, laugh with my husband and kids and hang out with friends.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
Chapter Five was pretty hot! I just love how Sarah and Evan are so playful with each other and the sexual tension of the pool table instruction. Of course, the whole scene ends with quite a bang!
