Exclusive Cover Reveal!! The Dawning of Scarlett by Jennifer Osborn, Plus a Review!

The Dawning of Scarlett by Jennifer Osborn
Genre: Young Adult (Paranormal Romance)
Date Published: April 28, 2016 Pre-order!
Publisher: Self

As a pale revenant—the vampire faction believing all life is sacred—sixteen-year-old Scarlett Ellis has learned to hide in the human world.  She goes to night-school, works at a coffee shop, and her uncle Chasem trains her in martial arts. No matter what, she has to be prepared, because when she turns seventeen, she’ll be of Dawning age—and her biological father Apollo vows to see her dead first.

Expecting her Dawning to be impossible, she accepts the fact that she will become a rogue, forever hunted by revenant renegades and outcast by her own people. Scarlett thinks she’s prepared for this—until the curly-haired Nicholas Lightener walks into her life and asks her out on a date.

Torn between her feelings for Nick and the danger of the revenant world, Scarlett’s strange life is turned inside-out when she’s kidnapped and forced to do the one thing she swore she’d never do. Plus, she has no idea whose memories keep appearing in her dreams, or if they can even help her. Determined to free herself from a death sentence, Scarlett must fight to become who she was born to be.

How about that cover? Looks lovely doesn't it? The book is pretty amazing too. Scarlett is quite an emotionally complex character, and she is brought to life so well within this story. She felt real while I read, and there were times where I felt what she felt. She knows how to use her strengths, but at the same time there were moments where I could see she still had her "high school girl" mentality. Again, she's very realistically written. Each character brought something to the story. The tension between Scarlett and Apollo is palpable. So much so, it hurt to read at times. Chasem was interesting. I'd love to learn more about him. He has me very intrigued.

I also learned something in this book. I always thought revenants were zombie or ghost like undead creatures. I didn't know they could also be vampires or a form of vampire. Through a little research after reading the book, and thank you to the author too for her information. We sent each other info back and forth about it. So, I learned something new. I love when a book teaches me... especially when it has to do with mythological/fantasy creatures. It adds to the adventure of reading.

I would like to say many things about the ending, but I can't for fear of revealing too much. Let me just say it was emotional in a way I never expected.

The Dawning of Scarlett is a story with so much to offer its readers. Its fast paced action, complex characters and situations, romance, revenants.. and not to mention the emotions that fly all over the place while you read. It's definitely a book I'd recommend for anyone who likes a little bite in their reading. I'm ready for more!

Book Review: Regret Me Not by Danielle Sibarium

Regret Me Not by Danielle Sibarium
Genre: New Adult (Contemporary Romance/A Touch Inspirational)
Date Published: June 17, 2014
Publisher: Self

For Mackenzie Green life is full of regrets; regrets from choices she made in the past, regrets for the things she’ll never see in her future. She regrets letting her grades slip while her sister was in rehab, ensuring she’ll never break away from the rumor-run, small town she lives in. She regrets breaking up with her future All American football playing boyfriend, Brayden Turner out of fear of getting hurt. Most of all she regrets every decision she made leading up to the night that changed her life forever.

It’s only after Brayden cuts her off completely that Mackenzie realizes how much she wants him in her life.

Can Mackenzie find the courage to learn from her mistakes and move forward or will she spend her days consumed with regrets? Is it too late to convince Brayden she wants him in her life and that she’s in it for the long haul? Most of all, can she accept that sometimes bad things happen no matter how hard you try to protect yourself from them? Can she put it all behind her or will she live an unfulfilled life full of regrets?

Regret Me Not was a beautifully written story by Danielle Sibarium that brings you into the emotional life of Kenzie who's working through her regrets and finding hope. I didn't expect it to be so emotional, but it had me in tears a time or two. As with all of Danielle's books, this one fully kept my attention. I felt invested in these characters. I loved watching their growth through the story.

Kenzie was a character women can relate to. Her fears and insecurities are things a lot of women feel for all sorts of reasons. I've haven't dealt with all of the things she went through. I mostly relate to her fears and insecurities, but I think this could be very helpful and supportive for women who have. Maybe it'll help them see the silver lining in a horrible situation. Everything happens for a reason(even though people hate hearing that at the time). I think one of the big themes through this story was the importance of family and hope. Kenzie is really someone we can all relate to in some way. She was a dynamic character.

Brayden was amazing in this. He was Kenzie's rock. I love how he is so strong on the outside, and you think he's perfect, then you see he has struggles and insecurities of his own.

Jessica was also a character that offered hope. She's only a supporting character, but her role was of big importance.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. It has a lot to offer the readers!

Check out my reviews some of Danielle Sibarium's other novels...

Danielle Sibarium grew up as an only child of divorced parents in Brooklyn, New York. Her imagination was developed at an early age. Surrounded by stuffed animals and imaginary friends, she transported herself into a fantasy world full of magic and wonder. Books were the gateway between her play world and reality. On any given summer afternoon she became Snow White sweeping and cooking for the dwarfs, or Cinderella waiting for the prince.

Danielle always loved dialogue and in elementary school began writing plays and short stories. This is when she began to understand she could not only bring her fantastical world to life for herself, but she could enchant others as well. And so she wrote. She wrote and wrote and wrote.

Sadly the first piece she ever sent out for publication of any sort was a letter to the editor of The Home News Tribune. It was a piece thanking the first responders for their bravery and selflessness on Sept 11th. It was chosen as letter of the week.

In 2007 Danielle collaborated with Charlotte Doreen Small to write songs for her CD More. Danielle wrote the lyrics for Take My Hand, and Goodbye, while Charlotte contributed the melody.
In October 2011 Danielle’s debut novel For Always was released. She Has since released Heart Waves and the second book in the Heart Waves series, Breaking Waves.

Danielle graduated from Farleigh Dickinson University with honors, and currently lives in New Jersey with her husband and three children. Check out my interview with Danielle!

Book Review: Into You by Danielle Sibarium

Into You by Danielle Sibarium
Genre: New Adult (Contemporary Romance)
Expected publication: December 18, 2013
Publisher: Self

“You start out with the best of intentions, but inevitably you hurt each other. I love you, but that didn't stop me from hurting you last night, or this morning. Love sucks. It's just the way it is.”

Falling in love is easy. But what happens when that love has been tossed aside and trampled on by the person who swore to cherish it? Can you ever trust again, or will the bitter taste of betrayal keep you from allowing anyone else in?

Carter and Elizabeth come with their own set of baggage. Both have had their heart broken and carry the scars of the past into their relationship with each other. Is love ever enough? Can it overcome?

By allowing the wrong person into her heart Elizabeth only knew of love tainted with secrets and lies. Can Carter convince her he wants the whole package, heart, body and soul? As Carter attempts to face his past with Elizabeth by his side, it continues to haunt him at every turn. Can he let go and believe in her enough to leave his past behind him, or will he push too hard and send her running into another man’s arms?

Into You is the engaging new novel by Danielle Sibarium. There was so much going on within this story, and it kept my attention completely, which is something I love. The characters were believable and lovable. The two main characters have some pretty serious baggage to work through. Elizabeth was very easy for me to relate to with her relationship fears. Carter had even more to work through, so his progress took longer, and I really enjoyed watching his transformation. I worry about him still though. I imagine he'll continue to carry the trust issues for a while. It would be hard not to given what he's been through. Poor Carter was betrayed in the worst way by two people who are supposed to love him most in the world. That is a kind of hurt that's pretty impossible to come back from. Yes, I'm worrying about a fictional character's future. That's the effect this book had though. I felt invested in these characters. Lastly, I absolutely love how they meet, and I love how Carter re-visits that later. It was super cute and a nice touch to the story line.
