Book Blast! I'm a Creep by Jaimie Roberts

I'm a Creep by Jaimie Roberts
Genre: Adult Fiction(Dark Erotic Romance)
Date Published: May 28, 2021
Publisher: Self

From an early age, I was bullied and abused.
Forced in to submission.
Forced to be a victim.
Until one fateful day just before my sixteenth birthday when I finally cracked.
With the snap of a finger, I was a changed girl.
No longer timid.
No longer frightened.
Instead, I armed myself with the knowledge of their secrets.
All who had bullied me.
All who had abused me.
I am no longer their victim.
The timid little plaything they can pick up whenever they damn well please.
Now I am vengeance.
I am the eye of the storm.
Nothing and no one can stand in my way.
And if anyone dare try ...
Be prepared to pay in blood.

WARNING: This book contains explicit, taboo, dark and twisted scenes.

What skeletons could the Brads and Chloes of this world be hiding that they’re desperate not to let out?

My heart thundering at the prospect, I smile for the very first time in a long time. There’s that age old saying about an eye for an eye making the whole world blind, but by f***, wouldn’t it be fun getting back at the pieces of s*** who have wronged you in the world?

With renewed energy coursing through my veins, my heart flutters at the prospects ahead. No one is going to help me. That for sure has been proven lately. The only person who can help me is me.

All those f****rs better watch their backs, because like the proverbial storm, I’m coming.

And nothing and no one can stop me.

Book Review: Shy Girls Write It Better by May Sage

Shy Girls Write It Better (Some Girls Do It #1) by May Sage
Genre: Adult Fiction (Contemporary Romance)
Date Published: October 11, 2016
Publisher: Madam's Books

Cassie Franklin trips over nothing on perfectly flat surfaces every day, and she cannot seem to be able to simultaneously speak and look into her audience's eyes.
Cassandra Frank is the ultimate tease; her words have aroused, intrigued and captured the heart of thousands...
And somehow, they are the same person.

Hiding the fact that she writes erotica isn't much of a challenge - no one would ever think that a plain, boring little accountant like Cassie could so much as read anything so scandalous...
But one day, she makes a huge mistake.

Carter Harris employs so many people he can't exactly recall all their names, but strangely, he knows her. She isn't an executive, she isn't sexy, or otherwise noticeable, but the girl is cute - in a helpless, unique sort of way.
He can't pretend to say she ever crosses his mind, though... Until the day he finds the manuscript she worked on during her lunch hour.

Shy girls write it better is an adult romance with explicit content. Standalone long novella.

Shy Girls Write It Better is the first book in the Some Girls Do It Series by May Sage. I enjoyed these characters. Cassie and Carter were fun, and cute, and quite naughty without going over the top. It reminded me of Good Mr. King, but it was different enough to be its own story. I needed a quick, care free read to help me escape for a bit, and this book did just that.

Book Review! Diamond in the Rough by Skye Warren

Diamond in the Rough (The Diamond Trilogy #1) by Skye WarrenGenre: Adult Fiction (Contemporary Romance/Suspense)
Date Published: July 7, 2020
Publisher: Self

I'm stepping off a nine hour flight when it happens.
A white van. A dark hood. Every woman's worst nightmare.

Now I'm trapped in an abandoned church. The man who took me says I won't be hurt. The man in the cell next to me says that's a lie. I'll fight with every ounce of strength, but there are secrets in these walls. I'll need every single one of them to survive.

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH is a new dark romance from New York Times bestselling author Skye Warren. Finding yourself has never been so dangerous...

Diamond in the Rough is the first book in the Diamond Trilogy by Skye Warren. The story is told from both Elijah and Holly's point of view. I appreciate that, because you really never knew who was good or bad... I'm still wondering, so the point of views gave you a decent look into the minds of the main characters. This was a dark romance with suspense and a bit of mystery, and after that ending, I feel like it's all about to kick into high gear again.

The ARC of Diamond in the Rough was kindly provided to me by Xpresso Book Tours for review. The opinions are my own.

A Book Review of Good Mr. King by Aidèe Jaimes, Plus an Interview with the Author

Good Mr. King by Aidèe Jaimes
Genre: Adult Fiction (Contemporary Romance)
Narrators: Ada Sinclair & Logan McAllister
Date Published:  May 8, 2020
Publisher: Self

No one dominates me. Not the supermodels I’ve slept with, not the rich women whose necks I’ve dressed in diamonds.

So imagine my surprise when I get a drunken e-mail from an employee I’ve never met, containing not one, but dozens of erotic stories all starring yours truly. And in every one of them I’m a submissive.

I should let it go, but I can’t. This woman needs to learn, John King gets spanked by no one.

***Although this is not a BDSM novel, it does have light elements of BDSM, as it is the driving force behind the story***

Good Mr. King by Aidèe Jaimes was a fun and naughty little book. I was glad the "activities", both naughty and otherwise, were more about trust than dominance. Through the book you get bits of Winn's writing too. I giggled at John's reaction to reading about himself in the role Winn wrote him as. John is used to being in charge. He's the one in control. So, when he read himself as the opposite, he felt... challenged? Is that the word I'm looking for. Maybe. Anyway.. with Winn, his control goes pretty much out the window. So, seeing him all out of his element was highly entertaining too. I'm not just talking about the naughty bits. I loved how he kept going into situations thinking he was going to run the show... only to fail. If you call it failing. The narrators did a splendid job. That was part of the fun too, as they put proper inflections and emotion at the proper moments. Very entertaining. I enjoyed this story all around. Sure, it was naughty, but not overwhelming. It was a tasteful kind of naughty.

Tell us about the process of turning your book into an audiobook.
The process itself is quite simple for the author, because the producer or narrator, does most of the work. I simply approve.

How did you select your narrator?
With this book, Logan actually stumbled into me and thank God! That voice!!!! I don’t know how I got so lucky. With his help, we found Ada. We had a few amazing ladies audition, but it was her. She was the one to play Winn!

How closely did you work with your narrator before and during the recording process?
As I said before, with this book Logan helped me find Ada. I needed the perfect blend of innocence and dominatrix. Other than a few name pronunciations, they took the script and ran with it!

Were there any real life inspirations behind your writing?
Yes! Always. In this case it was that I’m always asked if I write children’s books. One day I decided I SHOULD. So I called it Good Mr. Spider. My naughty brain gave me Good Mr. King instead.

Is there a particular part of this story that you feel is more resonating in the audiobook than in the book format?
Because Logan and Ada seemed to have been plucked out of my head, the most resonating part is that the listener can really hear them!

Have any of your characters ever appeared in your dreams?
I’ve never had characters appear in my dreams. Nope. They haunt my every waking hour though!

What’s your favorite?
My favorite food is: Pizza
Song: I have too many!
Book: Too many too, but I will say Sherillyn Kenyon’s Fantasy Lover is one I hug to my chest when I get my hands on it.
Television Show: Chopped
Movie: The Scarlet Pimpernel (I love the book too!)
Band: Metallica
Sports Team: Don’t watch
City: New Orleans!!!!!

Are there any of those things referenced in your work?
I often reference those things in my books because every single character, good guy, bad guy, and their mothers are all me, therefore they like what I do! The most influential of my likes however, is New Orleans. You will see that all the time in my books. It’s where my heart goes, the place that makes me sigh, and where I ache to see again.

Are you an audiobook listener?
I actually just recently started listening, and I really love it! But I still also love the smell of a book!

What’s next for you?
Next for me is a long list! I have several books in the works for the year and into the next, as well as other audio books currently in production, including my Cruel duet, a dark romance being narrated by Logan and Ada!

Release Day Review! Wilt by Nikki Rae

Wilt (The Order #2) by Nikki Rae
Genre: Adult Fiction (Dark Romance/Erotica)
Expected Release Date: June 30, 2018
Publisher: Self

When she was sold to Master Elliot Lyon of House Chimera, Fawn could have never imagined he was the same person as Elliot, the man beneath a well placed mask. A victim. Just like her. She would have never thought he was grooming her for the Wolf she’d already escaped once. That he planned to deliver her to the beast’s jaws in exchange for his wife. Master Jäger will stop at nothing to have her—even if that means using others as collateral. With more than just their lives on the line, Fawn must become someone else, and Master Lyon distances himself further from Elliot as her transfer looms.
The roots of the Order run deep within them, but Fawn is beginning to realize another bond has formed between her and her Owner, a man she vowed to destroy along with the rest of their tangled branches.
In a world where trust is just a tool and love isn’t meant for people like them, Fawn is determined to beat the powerful at their own elaborate games of make-believe. Even the man who Owns her.

Wilt is the second book in The Order Series by Nikki Rae.

Poor Fawn has this Stockholm-ish situation going on with Elliot. It's cyclic with them. She loves him, or thinks she does, because he gives her just enough love and the feeling of safety she needs. Then he does something to show his true colors once again, completely obliterating the safety net. She wisens up. He's sorry, and charming, and lures her back in. I think some times he really was sorry. A lot of abusers are, until it starts all over again. It was like the cycle of a real life abusive relationship, except Fawn is literally owned by him. So, she's trapped.

Any excuses I may have made for Elliot's behavior in the last book are out the window now. I don't like him. I officially wrote him off with the whole Mia situation. Just no. Everything after that only further cemented my feelings towards him. There is no excuse for certain things he said and did, and there's definitely no excuse for things he allowed to be done to Fawn. None of the reasons presented were a good enough excuse for his behavior. Ultimately, Fawn and Elliot may want the same thing, but a part of him likes the power. A part of him likes hurting Fawn physically, emotionally, and mentally. A part of him simply likes being evil. Maybe he wants to be the good guy. I'm not sure. I think he wants to want to be the good guy, but he enjoys the power and control more. I get it. It's all he's known. He has his own demons to fight because of his past, but he's not in the past anymore. You either marry it or become it. He's become it. That's how I see him anyway. I just can't see him as a potential good guy. Not anymore.

This is one of those books where I'm just not sure how I feel about it. I'm still so mad at Elliot right now for so many things. I'm mad at a lot of the characters, but we've known their nature. We're supposed to hate them. Elliot is more complicated to explain.

Anyway, so it definitely brings out many strong emotions. That's a talent this writer has. She really makes you feel. You can hate the character, but you're going to have all kinds of other really strong feels as well. She's truly gifted with her words. Also, love it..hate it...I still couldn't stop reading it, so there is that too. Morbid curiosity maybe? Probably, but it's not just that. I've grown genuinely attached to Fawn. I want to see her take them all down. (Except for maybe Marius.)

Warning: There is rape within this story, which I hate reading. I know it happens a lot within this particular world. I was hoping we wouldn't have to see it though. On the upside, it's not graphically written.

The ARC of Wilt by Nikki Rae was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

Master Lyon looked more than comfortable with her in his arms, fingers digging into her thighs through her dress. When I looked at his face, he still held the same grin. I wanted to wrap my hands around his neck. “Did you like watching, Doe?”
Next to him, his cigarette sat in a crystal ashtray on the arm of the seat, smoking down to nothing but a trail of dust. He hadn’t touched it once since that woman had returned to him. “No, sir,” I whispered, afraid if I used any more force I would scream.
Master Lyon cocked his head to the side and Mia gave me a mock-frown. “No?” he asked.
I stared back at him. “No, sir. I’m sure.” I could have left off the last part, but the small amount of control it made me believe I had was worth it.
His grin only widened as he leaned into Mia’s shoulder so her could coo in her ear, “I’ve trained her to be very loyal to her Owner.” He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and she closed her eyes and smiled as his fingers lingered on her chin. “But I’m afraid it makes her quite possessive of me.”
Mia stared down at me. It wasn’t until now that I could see the glint of evil all Members had in their eyes. The higher up they were on the food chain, the less human they were. Sooner or later, they all turned into sharks with dead black eyes. Her legs dangled off his thigh as she kissed his cheek. “I don’t blame her.” She didn’t look away from me even as her lips remained on my Owner’s skin. “I can see why she would be protective of you.” She ran her fingers through his hair.
“I’ve told her many times that she’s to be transferred,” he said, “but I think you and I can teach her that I am not the one who belongs to her.”
