Fanged Princess Cover Reveal!

I'm loving the cover on this one! I love seeing young authors too! This book definitely has my attention!

The Blurb:
I will not let my brother suffer the same loss…

Hadassah’s father, the Vampire King, punished her for her choice to love a human. Now her brother, the only person in the world who still matters to her, has fallen for a human girl. Determined to keep the girl safe, the three of them flee from their home in New England and find themselves cornered with their father’s minions closing in. If they want to escape, their only hope may be to join forces with the mortal enemies of their kind…

Be ensnared in this dark tale of enduring love, loyalty, and revenge from teenage author, Elisabeth Wheatley.

The Trailer:

About the Author:
Elisabeth Wheatley started writing very short (and rather silly) stories when she was around six. She became a voracious reader and after being practically forced by her cousins to watch Disney's version of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," she developed a chronic passion for fantasy.

Elisabeth eventually went to work on what would become "The Key of Amatahns" when she was eleven. "The Key of Amatahns" is the first in the seven-book series, "Argetallam Saga."

She is also now working on a urban fantasy/paranormal romance vampire novella.

When she isn't spellbound by reading fantasy books and writing her own, Elisabeth trains and shows her Jack Russell Terrier, Schnay, makes goat cheese, and studies mythology.

Cover Reveal: Trapped by Ella James

Release Date: December 2012
The Blurb:
(CONTAINS SPOILERS - DO NOT READ BEFORE READING HERE):
When Milo Mitchell falls for the beautiful, tuxedo-clad guy she found wandering her family's rural Colorado property, she never dreamed he was a scout from another galaxy, or that their relationship would leave him with an impossible choice: eradicating humankind, or initiating the end of his own people.

Nick's job is finding the elements his people need to power their elaborate interweb of minds. Being a scout means he is capable of traveling to other planets on his own. It also means that, unlike The Rest, he has access to primitive feelings and individual desires. For eons, he was part of the whole, but when he encountered Milo, his obsession with her changed everything.

Nick's partner, Vera, is capable of independent thought, but not compelled by it. She is satisfied with her existence as one of The Rest, and she won't agree that humans are worth sparing; not when their planet has a precious cache of the gold her people need so badly.

While Vera tries to force Nick into endorsing an Earth invasion, working behind the scenes to tie his hands, and the Department of Defense lays a trap for them with Milo's mom as bait, Nick and Milo are waging their own war - against a primal desire that can only lead to one thing: heartbreak

Crossroads Excerpt:
He held me gently with both of his arms and wings this time.  All I needed was his touch, for him to hold me that way; it made all the difference in the world.  I was safe again.  Without thought, I turned toward him.  The look in his eyes was so tempting, telling me that he wanted me too.  I knew it was impossible for him to want and need me the same way, but his eyes told me something else. The depth of my yearning and what I wanted to do at this very moment was undeniable.
I leaned toward him and tenderly placed a kiss on his supple lips to thank him.  It was an innocent kiss.  What was the harm in just one small kiss?  I was extremely surprised that he didn’t push me away.  I was even more surprised at myself.  I was never the type to make the first move.
“Thank you for saving me,” I whispered, looking straight into his soulful eyes, as something came over me.  Uncontrollable heat ran through my body.  He was right.  It was dangerous, but it was me who couldn’t control myself.  His eyes gave me permission to continue, so I gave him another kiss, but slower and longer this time.  He kissed me back, but with much hesitation.  His lips were warm and sweet like honeysuckle, just how I imagined they would be.  The warmth spread all over my body like a blazing fire.
Still holding me, he pulled me away with a sudden jerk, his eyes piercing into mine with anger.  His left hand was tightly wrung around my hair and the other gripping my shirt so I could feel the tightness from it.  Panting, wanting more of him, I forgot how to breathe, and so did he.  His eyes, still fierce with anger, gripped me even tighter as he slightly pushed and pulled me, fighting and uncertain of what he wanted to do.  Feeling petrified, I had to prepare myself for the consequence of my actions, for I knew I had crossed the line.

Book Trailer:

Needing Claudia's soul to escape the only place Aliah can reside-a place between Heaven and Earth-he sends his demons in search of all Claudia Emersons on Earth. Taking her soul will enable him to be released from Between and cross over to Crossroads, which would give him immense power. As more secrets are revealed Claudia learns about the venators--nephilim, demon hunters. Now two opposing forces must work together in order to save Claudia and humanity from the most dangerous angel ever created. But along the way, trust becomes a big issue. Finding a Man for Sylvia Promotional Event

Genre: Chick-lit, Romantic Comedy, Adult
Release Date: Nov. 23, 2012
Publisher: Muse Publishing

Finding a Man for Sylvia Blurb:
A well-intentioned but clueless romantic is determined to find love for her lonely neighbor over her exasperated husband’s objections.

Julia Hawthorne-Florez has the best of intentions, and everyone knows what the road to Hell is paved with. Her husband Javier accuses her of playing God with people’s lives, but Julia is simply a fool for love. (Or maybe just a fool?)

When lonely Sylvia moves in across the street, Julia is determined to find her match. Of course, there are obstacles. Javier, for one, who’s forbidden any further matchmaking attempts on his

well-intentioned wife’s part. And there’s the little matter of Sylvia being in love with a man who’s taken a vow of celibacy.

Julia schemes; the hamster wheel in her head spins furiously. Handsome Ted is Julia’s first choice. Except shy Ted happens to be interested in Julia’s best friend, certified dominatrix Lisa. And so it goes. Julia spins her web; Javier laughs at her. But Julia always gets the last laugh in this Latin-infused contemporary romantic comedy.

The Excerpt:
Ted stood awkwardly before me, lamenting his poor dumb fat kitty, and I felt a sudden twinge of inspiration. What could be more perfect and beautiful than bringing two shadow people together? It was the exact right thing to do. Ted and Sylvia were both background players. Who could possibly be a better match for my love-worn friend? I was practically picking out their china pattern, wondering what their children would look like. Good looking, of course; very shy.
“So, Ted, what are you doing for Thanksgiving?” I said, making conversation, trying to draw him out a little.
He began to fumble and stammer, “Oh, Thanksgiving. Um, wow. I hadn’t—I—uh…”
Only Ted. He hadn’t a clue, and it was the next day.
“We’re eating at three. Join us. Please. I insist.”
“Oh, uh, my mother —”
“Is she trying to set you up again?” I said with a laugh, teasing him just a little. His parents lived back home in Salt Lake City, and it was just like Bitsy to have arranged a space for him at some eligible young lady’s parents’ dinner table for the holiday.
He was looking down at his shoes; I leaned over from my seat at the reception desk where I was temporarily filling in and looked down at them too. They were brown brogue oxfords, the type serious professionals and college professors wear. His coordinated blue-and-green argyle socks were hot, in an “I’m in love with my teacher” sort of way.
“Really, I insist. No one should be alone on Thanksgiving.”
I immediately regretted saying that. Nobody wants to feel like they’re unloved and unpopular. No one wants to feel like a lonely loser. I hoped he didn’t feel that way from my offhand remark, but he looked at me, right in my eyes, and nodded.
“That sounds nice. I’ll be there.”
“Fabulous.”
He took a few steps and then stopped, turned and asked, “Red or white wine?”
“Both,” I answered, surprising him. I was only half joking.
As he walked back to his cubicle, I had to stop myself from rubbing my hands together like Snidely Whiplash—who I didn’t resemble in this context at all. I was using my powers for good.
This time.
Normalish Blurb:
Fifteen-year-old Stacy questions the strange world of high school, family, friends, love, and her role in the universe.

People tell you high school’s so great and wonderful, but they’re lying. It’s mostly horrible and full of disappointment. It sucks. Your best friend abandons you. The jerk you’re in love with pretends to be into you, and then the big dump. The boy you’ve really clicked with as a friend decides to go all crushy over you, so you break his heart just like yours was—smashed into little

pieces. Your sister goes mental , and you get involved with an older guy who’s even crazier than she is (who you know is a very bad idea, but you do it anyway). Math only adds another stink of failure to the whole thing.

High school blows. Just ask freshman Stacy. She’d want you to know.

Stealing Breath Tour! A Review of Stealing Breath by Joanne Brothwell

 Genre: Adult Fiction (Paranormal Romance)
Published: March 8, 2012
Publisher: Crescent Moon Press

The Blurb:
Deep in the backwoods of North Dakota, twenty-one year old Sarah Ross is searching for a missing child when she is attacked by a glowing-eyed, transparent... creature. Sarah survives, destroying the monster by using mysterious abilities she didn't even know she had. Bloody and bruised, Sarah flees the scene and runs directly into Evan Valente, a handsome, charismatic stranger who helps her back to safety. But what is Evan doing out in the forest at five in the morning? Turning to a healer, Sarah is shocked to learn her eyes bear the mark of the Indigo Child-an evolved human with the ability to feel the emotions of others. But her indigo aura also makes her an easy target for those who wish to consume her powerful essence. Soon, Sarah is falling deeply in love with Evan and wants nothing more than to follow her heart and trust that he is the man he says he is. But she can't ignore the lingering feeling that Evan is hiding a terrible secret. The deeper she digs, the more danger she faces, leading her on a course that will force her to face the darkest, innermost parts of her soul.

My Review:
Stealing Breath is the first book in the Stealing Breath Series by Joanne Brothwell.  There was hardly a dull moment which made Stealing Breath a quick read because I didn't want to put it down. Sarah was a strong, independent character. Although I think she took her independence a little too far at times when she'd venture off on her own like there aren't a bunch of people after her soul. Still, she was enjoyable. Evan was dark and mysterious. He has so many layers, and I enjoyed learning more and more about him as the story progressed. I loved all the different folklores that were woven within the story. That really kept things interesting. I still have many lingering questions, but I hope that the up coming books will answer them. I get the feeling there is so much more to be told about Sarah and Evan, and I'm excited to find out what's in store for them!

I received Stealing Breath by Joanne Brothwell from the These Paper Worlds Blog Tours for review. The opinions are my own.

About the Author:

Joanne Brothwell lives in the country on the Canadian prairie where her stories are inspired by the dead things that appear at her doorstep on a daily basis. Of course, her two pets, a retired police dog with titanium fangs and a feral barn cat missing two toes, make the safety of surrounding wildlife, at best, uncertain.

Joanne is known to daydream, and ever since grade school has been accused of having a poor attention span. The truth is, she has an alternate reality inside her head, where characters speak to her, sometimes so loudly (and incessantly) she just can’t hear anything else!

Joanne is thrilled to see her alternate universe finally become real with the publication of her novel, Stealing Breath, and her prequel novella, Vicarious. Now, with the sequel Silencing Breath on the way, you can be rest assured you will see much more of Joanne’s writing in the future, as those characters in her head, having tasted the sweet freedom of release, simply refuse to be silenced!

Book Review: Timeless by Michelle Madow

Genre: Young Adult (Paranormal Romance)
Date Published: November 20, 2012
Publisher: Dreamscape Publishing

The Blurb:
IT'S A RACE AGAINST TIME.

In Remembrance, Lizzie and Drew changed the course of fate so they could be together.

In Vengeance, Chelsea set fate back on its original, deadly path.

Now, strange things keep happening to Lizzie. Things that are omens of darkness to come. A curse has doomed her to die an early death, just as she did in her past life. To make things worse, even if she can figure out who cast the curse, it's irreversible. There's only one option left for her to save herself. It's crazier than anything she's heard yet, and to do it, she'll need Drew and Chelsea's help.

Because to make things right, they must go back to when it all began ...

My Review:
Timeless is the third and final book in the Transcend Time Saga by Michelle Madow. It took you from present day, to England, to Regency Era England all in one book. The plot was full of adventure and romance and kept my attention glued to the book. I love books that bring you back in time. Michelle Madow's writing style makes you feel like you are right there with Drew and Lizzie. I'm sad to see this story come to an end, but what an ending it was!

Meet the Author: Annie Oldham

Even with our stop along the Infraction Tour earlier this week, I just couldn't get enough Annie Oldham. So, I'm excited to announce that she is with us again today to answer a few questions for us. She's the author of The Burn, Infraction, & Bound. She's also working on a new trilogy!

authorHow long have you been writing?
For as long as I can remember. I wrote my first novel after college, but I definitely wasn't a serious writer. I dabbled in it off and on. I started pursuing writing seriously about two years ago.

What inspired you to write your first book?
I just wanted to write a novel--almost to prove to myself that I could. That novel was horrible. The story was bad, the characters were pretty one-dimensional, and the pacing was atrocious. But I did it. And so I knew I could do it again.

When you first started writing The Burn, did you plan for it to be a series?
I planned for it to be a stand-alone, but the story just begged to keep being written.

Which of your characters do you relate to most and why?
I relate to all my characters because they're all pieces of me. I relate to Jane's insecurity and Madge's sense of justice. I relate to Terra's loyalty and Mary's strength.

What is a secret about you that nobody else knows?
If I told you, then it wouldn't be a secret ;)

If your real life as a teenager was a Young Adult book, what would you, the main character, be like?
I'd probably be the good girl. I made my parents' lives as the parents of a teenager pretty easy.
What book have you read too many times to count?
The Lord of the Rings

What is the best piece of writing advice you ever received?
Write and don't worry about making it pretty. That always comes later.

If you could hop into the life of any fictional character, who would it be and why?
Hermione Granger. I mean, she's the smartest witch in England. Who wouldn't want to be able to do magic like that? Although Ron's not really my type...

What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?
The organic nature of writing. After writing my first three published books, I thought I had my system down. Then I started writing Infraction and all that went out the window. I wrote my first three from start to finish, but that just didn't work with Infraction. I ended up writing a scene as I thought of it and then threading them all together.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Spend time with my family, read, play the piano, and bake treats.

Are any of the things in your books based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?
They all have some basis in reality--that's what makes good fiction. If it's completely out there, no one will be able to relate to it. But if it speaks to people emotionally, then they'll be hooked.

Promotional Event: The Edge of Never by J.A. Redmerski

Special Price: the book will be available at a $1.99 promotional price on the release day only (Nov. 15) and will go to regular price on 11/16.

The Blurb:
Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.

Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.

With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself. What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. And she vowed never to fall in love.

But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. On their sporadic road-trip he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But will Andrew’s dark secret push them inseparably together, or tear them completely apart?

*Due to sexual content and language, this book is recommended for 17+ – Adult Contemporary Women’s – New Adult Fiction

The Excerpt:
We head over to the medicines and there’s a middle-aged couple standing in front of the cough syrup, reading the labels.
Andrew says casually, without lowering his voice, “Babe, did you find that yeast infection stuff?”
My eyes spring open and I freeze in front of the Tylenol. He removes a small box of Advil from the shelf. The couple pretends not to have heard what he said, but I know they heard him.
“I mean are you even sure that’s what’s causing the itch?” he goes on and I’m literally melting from the heat in my face.
The couple does glance over this time, covertly.
Andrew is grinning his ass off at me from the side, pretending to be reading labels. I want to smack him, but instead, I play him at his own game.
“Yeah, baby I found it,” I say as casually as he had, “what about you? Did you see if they have extra-small sized condoms?”
The woman turns her head and looks right at him, up and down, and then she eyes me before going back to reading labels.
Andrew doesn’t break; somehow I knew he wouldn’t. He just smiles over at me, enjoying every second of this.
“One size fits all, baby,” he says, “I told you they fill out better when you can actually make it hard.”
A spitting noise bursts from between my lips followed by laughter.
The couple leaves the aisle.
About the Author:
Author of THE DARKWOODS TRILOGY and DIRTY EDEN, mother, werewolf & zombie fanatic, book addict and a happy hermit obsessed with the Universe. Oh, and AMC’s “The Walking Dead”.

Addictions: Starbucks every morning, trolling Barnes & Noble’s shelves once a week, detesting winter, shopping flea markets and preparing for the collapse of society as we know it. Do I own a tin foil hat? Maybe. :-)

I was born in Arkansas and have lived here most of my life, except the couple of times when I lived in Pennsylvania. I started my first novel at the age of thirteen and have been writing something ever since. Generally, I love characters in life and on paper. I pay attention to people, especially those whose personalities make them different from the rest of us: the drug addict roaming the Laundromat that talks to himself, the young, inattentive mother in the park with the meanest kid on the playground – (the entire cast of ‘Swamp People’) – characters fascinate me and I hope that it shows in my literary work.

Some authors that inspire me are Neil Gaiman, Anne Rice, Cormac McCarthy, Max Brooks, J.K. Rowling, Richard Matheson, William R. Forstchen, Carrie Ryan, David Moody, Phillipa Gregory and Lisa Smedman. I’m always on the lookout for the next great book to pull me into its world and piss me off when I read the last page and know that it’s over.

I’m a sucker for anything Christopher Lee, Ralph Fiennes, Edward Norton and Cate Blanchett. But my biggest fan-girl superstars are Alex Filippenko, Michio Kaku, Brian Cox, Michelle Thaller and Neil Degrasse Tyson!

Also, almost more than anything I love nature and this beautiful planet that I live on. I just wish everyone else did too….

The Gratitude Giveaways Blog Hop

The Gratitude Giveaways Blog Hop is hosted by I Am A Reader, Not A Writer

This hop is to say thank you to all the blog readers out there. Without you, we wouldn't be here. So, thank you everyone!

I've always been an avid reader. After reading Twilight in 2008, my craze for reading went into overdrive and it hasn't slowed up a bit. Since Twilight was the inspiration for this blog, I thought it would only be fitting to say thank you with a Twilighty giveaway. So, I will be giving away The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide by Stephenie Meyer.

Genre: Young Adult (Paranormal Romance)
Date Published: June 26, 2011

The Blurb:
When one human stands before an army of impossible obstacles, the likelihood of overcoming them in this coming-of-age modern fairytale may result in war between light and darkness.

Abandoned as an infant in Prague, naive and strong-willed Charlotte Ruzikova was raised by one of the last Vampires left alive. As a human, she knows no other home than the one nestled deep in the woods of Eastern Europe, where Witches drew spells of enchantment, Phasers threw tea parties, and Elves are the closest in kin. Charlotte has lived her life in the dark with her Guardian, content to having him to herself and reveling in his attention, until she's realizes she wants more...

Resident medical doctor and Vampire, Valek Ruzik fears the day his ward would come of age and blossom into a fine woman, and he is forced to confront his own motives as time is of the essence once his past catches up to him, and their lives become endangered...

As genocide and war threatens their secret society, the dictator in power is ready to wipe out Valek's race, but Charlotte will not allow that to happen. Fighting for the only one she's ever loved and truly believed in, she will do whatever it takes to save their love...before the sun comes up and light takes over.

The Review:
The Vampire's Daughter is the first book in the Of Light and Darkness series by Shayne Leighton. The father figure theme that dominated the romance was disturbing to me. I wish that could have been changed or tamed down a bit, but it didn't keep me from enjoying the story. There was rarely a dull moment through the book. This book brings back the scary, dark, old school vampires who use instinct, intelligence, and sexuality to hunt their prey. I haven't read Anne Rice's Interview With a Vampire, but the atmosphere of this book made me feel the way I felt while I watched the movie for the first time. It gives you a dark curiosity about their world. The Vampire's Daughter kept me intrigued, and I'm curious to find out what's coming next.
