Fields of Elysium Saga is a young-adult fantasy series that follows the adventures of sixteen-year-old Molly Bennett. The story is set in Los Angeles, CA, and on Arkana, the new Earth.  Safe and Sound is a prequel novella to Fields of Elysium and introduces the harsh lives of the Arkanians and follows Victor Sorren from birth till the moment he meets Molly. Victor is the Byronic hero of the series and this novella gives a very intimate insight into his life and soul. Safe and Sound is part of the series yet stands alone. A bonus story and also an introduction to the series.

Safe and Sound is a prequel novella to Fields of Elysium and it introduces the harsh life of the Arkanians and follows Victor Sorren, the Byronic hero of the series, from birth till the moment he meets Molly.

Recommended reading age 16+ due to mild violence and some mild sexual situations.

In the world where freedom is no longer your right; where being in love and starting a family is not a blessing but a curse, a baby is born. To spare him from the harsh life the Arkanian slaves in Terraka City have to endure, his parents attempt the impossible.

They have to pay a high price for their courage.

Heartbroken and lonely, Victor Sorren spends his life waiting for his father’s return. But how much pain and suffering can be inflicted on an innocent young boy before hatred takes over his heart? Yet there is no darkness without light. And falling for a girl from Earth might provide just the right amount of light to bring hope back to Victor’s dark heart.

I'm a Hungarian born American writer, who was lucky enough to travel Europe, Africa, and The Middle East and live in Ecuador, Crete and Italy. I graduated as a computer engineer, thus if anybody tells you math and literature can't walk hand in hand, don't believe them. *smile*

I'm the author of the Fields of Elysium saga, which I like to call a young adult romantic fantasy. The first book of the series was inspired by amazing movies like Dirty Dancing, Avatar, and Twilight and earned praise from prestigious review companies and readers. I'm currently working on book three and four, and planning to write two more novellas to finish the series, dedicated to two very interesting characters in my story, Victor Sorren, the byronic hero, and The Prophet, the mysterious leader of the Arkanians.

Book Review: Fields of Elysium by A.B. Whelan

Fields of Elysium (Fields of Elysium #1) by A.B. Whelan
Genre: Young Adult (Science Fiction/Fantasy Romance)
Date Published: December 12, 2012

How can love mend a heart full of hate?

Small town girl, Molly Bennett, moves to Los Angeles where she becomes an outsider while attending Beverly Hills High School. It seems life cannot be any more dreadful. Then one day after school, something magical happens. On a secluded hike in the Hollywood Hills, Molly chases her disobedient mutt and only friend into a hidden cavern. She stumbles upon a strange glimmering gateway that transports her to Arkana, a planet that is the cradle of an advanced human race. There, teenagers navigate amazing flying vehicles, compete in perilous games for glory, and possess supernatural powers. While Molly tries to wrap her mind around this unbelievable discovery, she meets the alluring and mysterious Victor Sorren. He is a Sentinel Apprentice, whose hatred toward people from Earth is beyond understanding. Yet every time Victor unpredictably saves Molly's life, his heart draws closer to hers, no matter how much he tries to fight against it. It further complicates things that their growing friendship is strictly forbidden. Earth people are prohibited in Arkana, yet Molly continues to cross through the portal to Arkana to see Victor. Torn between their double lives, they go down a dangerous path, from where there is no return and multiple endings.

Fields of Elysium is a suspenseful romantic tale full of forbidden secrets, danger, deception, and the never-ending fight for true love.

Fields of Elysium is the first book in the Fields of Elysium series by A.B. Whelan. From the very beginning, this book pulled me into its World and the life of Molly. The writing style is a little different(a good different), and it made me feel like I was right there with Molly. She was a character with a good head on her shoulders. I love that she has a good relationship with her parents. Her dad has some irrational worries that made him act overprotective, but he loves his kids. A LOT. Better safe then sorry. I get it.

I couldn't stop reading. I hated having to put the book down when things like work and bathing got in the way. Molly and Victor are simply adorable. They were super mushy at times, but they're just so darn cute. Victor showed some pretty dramatic character growth. All the characters were endearing. You know how in some books the supporting characters blend in with one another and can be pretty forgettable? That wasn't the case here. Each character had their own little quirks that made them unique.

There was adventure, humor, danger, and of course a beautiful romance with some twists along the way. I enjoy books with a message, and this one has a few lovely messages to pass along to the readers. I love the world this author created, with its different creatures and people. Arkana sounds like paradise. Fields of Elysium is an enchanted reading adventure that left me longing for a World that doesn't exist. Oh, why can't it be real!?
