Book Review! Tapped by the Rockstar by Christina Hovland

Tapped by the Rockstar (Mile High Rocked #4) by Christina Hovland
Genre: Adult Fiction (Contemporary Romance)
Date Published: January 1, 2023
Publisher: Self

Internet fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

As a teenager Samantha Johnson wrote a song that went viral in all the wrong ways. A pop song about her love of mozzarella sticks. She hoped for adoration but instead became a joke for an entire generation. She absolutely does not want to be in the limelight ever again. Or even near it. Since then, she's kept mostly to herself. But then she gets set up with a guy who turns out to be a rock star, and she risks the spotlight falling on her once more.

Dimefront’s awkward drummer, Tanner Penton, never expected to live the rock star life. Even though he's living the dream, he's still fighting his past and the hurt caused by young love. He’d like to figure out how to actually speak to women without getting tongue tied. Unfortunately, his friends covertly fix him up with a woman he can't form a coherent syllable around. He gets flustered, his face heats, and... it's a whole thing.

Tanner must learn how to be authentically himself with Sam if he's going to make this last. And Sam must put the past behind her to figure out if she wants to embrace fame and the man she's falling for or walk away for good.

Tapped by the Rockstar is the fourth book in the Mike High Rocked series by Christina Hovland. This is Tanner & Sam’s story. I’ll be honest, I’m not sure what the fuss was about with Sam’s ‘viral video’ from so many years ago. She was a child. Most of that stuff of long forgotten by now, and people are on to the next thing to make fun of. That being said, I understand her being traumatized as a kid about it, by to still have people avidly searching for her was odd. Anyway, i loved their story. Tanner comes off pretty innocent, even though we all know he’s not. I liked his boy next door personality. Sam too… she has an innocence to her. I guess that’s one of the reasons they’re so cute together. I enjoyed getting to know them, and of course loved reuniting with the band and their ladies too. This is a fun series!

Book Review! Married to the Rockstar by Christina Hovland

Married to the Rockstar (Mile High Rocked #3) by Christina Hovland
Genre: Adult Fiction (Contemporary Romance)
Date Published: April 29, 2022
Publisher: Self

Nothing about this arrangement is convenient...

Jeremy Dillion—a.k.a. Knox—has no intention of succumbing to wedded bliss. Gag, no. His parents divorced when he was young and the only stability in his life comes from his bandmates. But now they’re finding their own forever sweethearts, and Knox is feeling the heat of being a lone wolf in a group effort. Still, an actual relationship? No. Ick.

Irina Carmichael is ready for her big break. The problem is no one takes a second look at her, since she doesn’t fit into the general mold created for Hollywood starlets. Her hips are too big, her nose is too sharp, and her lips are too wide. But she’s so ready to step out of the background and into the spotlight.

When Knox gets trashed in the tabloids, his publicist pitches the idea of an image-saving marriage to Irina. Irina figures the publicity can't hurt and accepts—until the offers for major roles start pouring in, and she doesn’t need the arrangement. Unfortunately, Knox has broken the first rule of marrying an actress for publicity: don’t fall in love. But can he handle a real relationship? And is she ready to stop pretending?

Married to the Rockstar is the third book in the Mile High Rocked by Christina Hovland. Knox and Irina are cute and funny together and ooh so in denial. So, they're getting married, but it's strictly a business arrangement... at least that's what they tell themselves. I love the friendship, full of bantering, that's between these too. It's fun and believable. Like this authors other books, this one is entertaining, steamy, and full of lovable characters. This series is a keeper.

“You brought me a crappy crepe!” Bonus, she didn’t have to eat it with his scary mother.

His eyes glittered with…was that pride? That was totally pride.

She leaned in and brushed her lips at his cheek. Unfortunately, he turned his head as she moved. She didn’t want another nose collision, so she pivoted close and her mouth landed smack against his.

He jolted a little, didn’t move, but he didn’t move away either.

If they were a real couple, she’d reward him for bringing her a crappy crepe by giving him a serious kiss. The kind that wasn’t chaste or a quick peck.

What the hell. This was a show, right?

She parted her lips, moaned a little because it felt right, and deepened the kiss when he went right along with it.

She’d never really enjoyed kissing parts before on set or stage, they were just another thing to do. But this was different.

Another moan and that’s all she got to do before Knox took over. Oh boy, did he take over. There was tongue in all the right spots, hands skimming her jawline to places along her neck she did not know were erogenous. She groaned into his mouth, and it wasn’t the least bit for show. No, he coaxed that out of her with a substantial amount of skill.

And then…she attempted to sort out what that might mean.

Before she formed even the slightest cohesive thought, he pulled away. Hands clasped behind his head, he kicked back.

“Enjoy your crappy crepe, Noodle Cup.”

“You don’t want to give me a score?” she asked, cautiously.

“Say what you need to say. Think what you need to think.” He opened his eyes, stared straight into her soul. “But that second moan wasn’t fake, so I know it was a ten for us both.”

“How would you know what’s real and what isn’t? I’m a professional at convincing people to believe what I want them to believe.” She’d been through a crapload of workshops, classes, and school to learn her craft.

“Tell yourself whatever you need to tell yourself.” He winked. Then closed his eyes. “I know the truth.”

She didn’t really like that.

But what was it she didn’t like?

Did she not like that he was correct? Or was it that he called her out on it? That she wanted more of him and wished the kiss had been real?

Her mouth tasted like sawdust, and not the good Knox scent, either.

Knox sat there with his eyes closed.

She leaned over and brushed her mouth against his cheek. “Knox?”

“Hey.” He opened his eyes, meeting her gaze.

“I thought you might want a bite of my crappy crepe.” The cellophane wrapper crackled when she removed the red plastic spork with a great deal of flair.

“I’ll try anything once.” Knox moved back into her personal space and…actually…she should’ve let him snooze.

Because now she was all upside down again.

Using the edge of the spork, she tried to cut at the crepe. It wasn’t budging and the head of the utensil broke clean off. This was ridiculous.

“They really do make them crappy, don’t they?” Knox grinned a wicked grin.

Uh-huh. She picked up strawberry with her fingertips, tore off a piece of crepe, wrapped it together and held it to Knox’s mouth.

The look of surprise in his eyes was 100 percent worth the broken plasticware.

He parted his lips.

In for a penny, in for a pound. She slipped the bite inside and lingered for a moment in clear invitation for him to close around her fingers.

He didn’t disappoint, but he didn’t only close around her fingers. Oh no, that would’ve been too normal. If she’d learned anything, Knox never went with the expected.

He clasped her wrist as he licked residual Nutella from her skin. If he kept that up too much longer, she probably would end up arrested for indecent exposure and illicit sounds.

“Oh, look at that.” She pulled her wrist from his grip. “Can you believe it’s time to board?”

Close to time.

Same thing.

Release Day Review! Knocked Up by the Rockstar by Christina Hovland

Knocked Up by the Rockstar (Mile High Rocked #2) by Christina Hovland
Genre: Adult Fiction (Contemporary Romance)
Date Published: December 10th 2021
Publisher: Self

The only thing music publicist Courtney Lincoln dislikes more than knock-off sugary breakfast cereal is Dimefront’s lead singer—Brennan “Bax” Baxter. So when she discovers she’s pregnant following one teeny, tiny, mind-blowing morning with her nemesis, her world tumbles upside down.

Dimefront is on the rocks. Again. Bax is ready to move on. But following the implosion of his engagement, he makes a slip-up that ties him to Courtney as unlikely co-parents. He doesn’t like Courtney. Doesn’t care for how she’s able to see straight through the façade he’s painstakingly curated. But he’s always wanted a family and he’s being offered that chance.

Now the band is mending fences, there’s a baby on the way, and feelings start getting tangled. Maybe Bax isn’t really such a jerk? Perhaps Courtney could be the woman of his dreams? Or, maybe, just maybe, they were right all along…

Knocked Up by the Rockstar is the second book in the Mile High Rocked series by Christina Hovland. Stories like this are so much fun to read, because you have these people who grew up together, so they know each other's crap inside and out. So, even when you have Mister Rockstar with his Rockstar attitude, Courtney knows who he really is. Or she thought he did. Maybe the Rockstar persona has fully taken over. I liked that aspect of it too... the whole 2 sets of personalities: Bax vs Brennan. Their issues were pretty believable to their situation too with their insecurities and baggage. It was real... fictionally speaking of course. I haven't read the previous book in this series yet, but I want to. That's another perk about the books I've read by this author. I end up reading them out of order, but they stand alone just fine. I look forward to reading more!

Book Review! Do Me a Favor by Christina Hovland

Do Me a Favor (Mile High Matched #4) by Christina Hovland
Genre: Adult Fiction (Contemporary Romance)
Date Published: April 17, 2020
Publisher: Self

Some days things just click. Today is not that day.

Love is a battlefield, and divorce attorney Sadie Howard is entrenched on the frontlines. She thought she might have met the right man once, but he was a career military guy who got shipped overseas and left her heart on the tarmac. These days, the only commitment Sadie wants is the one she's made to her Denver law practice.

Combat photographer Roman Dvornakov is back. Fresh out of the U.S. Army, he’s using family connections to snap photos at a few weddings while he builds his civilian photography practice. After all he’s captured on film, a few posed wedding shots should be a cakewalk. Seeing so much death through the camera lens, he’s now ready to build something worth living for. A thriving photography business, definitely. But he’s certain his new mission also includes Sadie, the girl who slipped away.

Sadie isn’t convinced, and she's not willing to open her heart anytime soon. Besides, she’s got a high-profile divorce case taking up all her attention. Winning the case for her client will make or break her practice.  So what if it's a custody dispute over a ridiculously expensive fish tank? When Roman discovers the soon-to-be divorced couple are still in love, he and his slightly-nutty grandmother, Babushka, are determined to convince them to cancel the proceedings. He’s not camera shy when it comes to matters of the heart, but interfering with Sadie's clients could wreck her career and any chance they'll ever have together...

WARNING: READ ONLY IF YOU LOVE A STRONG HEROINE, AN ALPHA HERO WITH A HEART OF GOLD, FAMILY MEDDLING, AND A GUARANTEED HEA. IF LAUGHING SO HARD THAT THOSE AROUND YOU ASK IF YOU ARE OKAY IS YOUR THING, THEN THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU.

Do Me a Favor is the fourth book in the Mile High Matched series by Christina Hovland. Sadie has been hurt by Roman and other men before, so she is extremely guarded. She wants to open her new office and get on with her future without a man to interfere. Of course, Roman is back in town too, and there's pretty much only one thing he wants. Boy, is he a charmer. He makes some silly choices in his attempts to woo Sadie, but I really like this guy. This was a second chance romance that was a little cute and a little steamy, with a crazy meddling grandmother. If this were real life, she'd seriously drive everyone insane. I mean, she had her endearing moments, but mostly... insane. Needless to say, there were a lot of funny, not to mention awkward, moments.
