Summary via The Writer's Coffee Shop:

In modern times, mankind believes they know all that there is to know about the world around them.  Arrogant in their ignorance, they travel through life completely unaware of the other beings in their midst, the Children of Creation. Celestial Angels and Fallen walk amongst them unseen, while the third beings of creation, the Guardians, live along side them, protecting them from attacks of the Fallen.

Daniella Rossi is a nineteen year old college student who sees the world quite differently than those around her.  From infancy, she was aware of the beings that walked among her kind who were not like them, as well as her own personal Guardian who watched over her.  Dani always knew she was different, but she never dreamed the full scope of her importance.

Follow Dani as her life takes an unexpected turn when a new Guardian is assigned to replace her lifelong companion and friend.  Much older, more experienced, and socially awkward, Nathaniel must learn to adjust himself to fit into Dani’s world in order to guard her without drawing unwanted attention.   While the Fallen are determined to capture Dani, she and Nathaniel find themselves developing a bond that goes far beyond that of Guardian and charge.  Facing the strains of a brewing war and forbidden affections, will they be ready for the coming battle?  Will Dani be able to handle the truth of her existence and destiny?

Guest Post by J.D. Watts, author of The Children of Creation Series

Thank you for joining us on our stop off of The Young Adult Blog Tour. Our date on the tour has been broken up into four sections: The review, giveaway, interview, and this Guest Post with J.D. Watts! This is all thanks to J.D. Watts and TWCS Publishing House.

I'm happy to announce that J.D. Watts will be blogging with us today. Without making you wait any longer, I will now hand off the blog to her.
For me, music is practically like air. I can’t do much in my life without some sort of soundtrack, and the same is true for my writing. I have soundtracks I listen to when I need to access a certain mood or mindset and even now, when I think of my books, there are certain songs I listened to while writing them that pop into my head when I think about certain scenes.
The Convergence soundtrack is full of heavier rock like Flyleaf and Skillet, driving beats and lyrics that seem to fit the mindset of Dani in the midst of her whole world being turned on end. The music fit Dani in that first book, right along with her ripped jeans, snarky tee shirts, and dangerous looking boots, her armor to hold herself apart and in some ways protected. One of the songs that especially seemed to inspire me in terms of Dani and her struggle to get a grasp on everything she was facing was Hero by Skillet. It was just so perfect for how she was feeling, incapable of protecting herself, feeling overwhelmed and not understanding what was expected of her. If I were to make a soundtrack for a movie adaptation of Convergence, that would be a song I would beg to make the cut.
Induction, the second book of the series, has a very different feel to the first book and so my soundtrack is also very different. This book is where we see the love story develop, so in this playlist I have a lot of soft songs, and a particularly important cameo by Adele’s Make You Feel My Love, but the most important of all was my very special find by an original artist who posts on youtube. I actually found the group when looking for music I might consider ‘angelic’ and discovered the amazing sound of Stella Voci, a musical group composed of a group of women from all around the world who have never been in the same room yet have recorded and arranged the most beautiful music together. I consider Stella Voci one of the great wonders of the internet, a prime example of how it has made our world a much smaller place. One of their songs also make a cameo in my soundtrack for the book in a very, very special scene, but coolest of all was discovering the leader of Stella Voci, Kate Covington, aka katethegreat19 on YouTube and her original composition, which she also performed and posted on YouTube, No One But You. This song inspired some very special scenes for me and she was even so kind as to give me permission to use it in the video trailer for Induction when it came out. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for artists like her all around the world that create this amazing art form that both soothes and inspires. Without their art and the contribution of their beauty to the world, my writing would be far less than it is.

I hope that if you pick up my books that you might also take the time to look into some of the music that I mentioned here. I also have a writing playlist posted at the bottom of my own blog, jdwatts.blogspot.com if you ever wanted to drop in and hear some of the things that get my fingers to flying across my keyboard. I want to give a huge thanks to this blog for hosting me and my book and taking precious time and blog space to let me share. Without bloggers like you, we authors would be lost. Thank you again!

Meet the Author: J.D. Watts

Thank you for joining us on our stop off of The Young Adult Blog Tour. Our date on the tour has been broken up into four sections: The review, giveaway, guest post, and this interview with J.D. Watts! This is all thanks to J.D. Watts and TWCS Publishing House.

How long have you been writing?
I always tease that I was always a ‘writer,’ forever thinking up cool plot twists for my favorite shows or dreaming up my own little stories in my head from the time I was a little bitty thing, but I didn’t really sit down and start putting pen to paper until about six years ago. It was horrible though and it didn’t take long before I gave up on the idea and put it away. (I hope to come back to that story again someday with the benefit of the experience I’ve gained in the years since). I really started writing much more fervently about three years ago. I was home with my three year old son and my two month old daughter and was going stir crazy. I happened across a writing community online and started playing around with a few ideas and next thing I knew, I was writing up short story after short story, that then turned into long stories, but even then I never thought about publishing. It wasn’t until The Writer’s Coffee Shop announced that they were opening a publishing house and were running an original fiction contest that I entered and won the young adult division with the first few chapters of Convergence that I ever really believed that any of this would ever be an actual possibility for me.

What inspired you to write Convergence?
Convergence was inspired by a dream coupled with my long time fascination with the idea of spiritual warfare, the possibilities of angels among us, and the places in the Bible where angels are mentioned. It all sort of melted together into this idea where I sort of played with the unknowns in life.

When you started writing Convergence, did you plan for it to be a series?
Yes, from the beginning I knew it would be a series. There was no way I would be able to portray the full progression of Dani and Nate’s evolution in just one novel.

Which of your characters do you relate to most and why?
I would say I relate most to Dani. I spend a lot of my life wondering where it’s going and getting frustrated at not KNOWING what lies ahead.

Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely imagination?
A lot of the places and little details in Convergence are based on my real life experiences. Everyone says to write what you know, and what better to write about than your own back yard? As the series progresses, we get away from the sprawling farmlands of Illinois, but it was nice to play with it in the first book.

If your real life was a young adult fictional novel, what would you, the main character, be like?

Boring! I am a mom of two young kids who spends most of her downtime taking cake decorating classes and writing…not a very riveting plotline! I guess I’d be the dreamer, my mind always dreaming up more exciting and wonderful things that I will probably never get to experience personally.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
Play with my children, watch movies, read, chat/skype/facebook/email/etc with my friends, and learn to decorate cakes.

What project are you working on now?
Right now, what writing time I do manage to find is being completely devoted to the final book of the series, Maelstrom. It’s been the most difficult of anything I have written to date.

What is the best piece of writing advice you ever received?
Never delete anything. If you write something and don’t like it, cut it out and paste into another document and keep it saved somewhere just in case you want to revisit it, or it helps inspire something else someday. You never know when a bit of writing that feels all wrong in one place might be perfect someplace else.

What is a little something about yourself you'd like your readers to know?
Why is this the hardest of all of these questions? (chuckles while shaking my head) I guess that writing isn’t something I do, it is what I AM. Even before I started letting my fingers fly across these keys to capture my ideas, I always had a story to tell. If I somehow lost my writing, I feel like I would lose a massive part of my identity…which is really ironic since I really only discovered my penchant for the written word three years ago! Oh, that and I talk to myself…all the time…especially when ‘plotting.’ It’s not unusual at all to catch me muttering to myself as I type or talking to myself as I lie in bed, sorting out a little dialogue or a plot point. Yeah, it may be a sign of madness, but boy is the madness fun!

We all need a little madness. Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions. I look forward to reading the rest of your series.

Book Review: Convergence by J.D. Watts

Thank you for joining us on our stop off of The Young Adult Blog Tour. Our date on the tour has been broken up into four sections: The interview, giveaway, guest post, and this book review with J.D. Watts! This is all thanks to J.D. Watts and TWCS Publishing House.

Genre: Young Adult (Paranormal Romance)

Convergence if the first book in the Children of Creation Series by J.D. Watts.  The story is centered primarily around Dani, a college student who can see celestial beings both good and bad. A new Guardian is sent to protect her, replacing her current Guardian that has become a motherly best friend since Dani lost her real mother at a young age. Dani always knew she was different, but she never knew why. With a war between Angels and Demons on the horizon, Dani must figure out the truth about her life and which side she will choose to follow.

Convergence was a very hard book to put down. I loved seeing angels portrayed with such loyalty and strength. This is how I picture Angels to be. The author put a unique spin on the typical Guardian Angel. I always thought them to be a type of angel, but in Convergence, they are a separate creation. I enjoyed this new addition to the world of celestial beings. There were many things about this book that flowed right along with my way of thinking, and even the new ideas made sense and fit with the story. I want to see where the love story goes and how Dani grows further with her newly given information about herself. I'm excited to read the second book.

Teaser Tuesdays: Convergence by J.D. Watts

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share  doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can  add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My teaser this week is from Convergence by J.D. Watts:

I know it's stupid. We could never be together. Not only is it forbidden, it's impossible. That doesn't change how I feel. I'm sure he's felt it, though I'm equally sure he doesn't know what it is. That's one advantage to his emotional immaturity. The secret is safe for now, and if I have my way, it shall die with me.
Do you have a blog? Post a link to your Teaser Tuesday post in the comments. No blog? Post a Teaser in the comments anyway!
