Book Review: Charming by Dannika Dark

Charming (Seven #6.5) by Dannika Dark
Genre: Adult Fiction(Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy)
Date Published:  December 6, 2015
Publisher: Self

After seven hundred years, Prince has acquired everything a Packmaster could desire. But when he meets the enchanting Nadia Kozlov, he realizes there’s one thing he doesn’t have: answers. Prince owes his life to a man he hasn’t seen in centuries, and Nadia holds the key to his whereabouts, because that man is her father.

Destinies collide when Nadia’s sister shows up unexpectedly. Katarina is a skilled bounty hunter, hot on the trail of a nefarious outlaw who turns out to be Prince’s old nemesis. Prince teams up with Nadia’s sister to track down the Mage, but the real game of cat and mouse is already underway as sparks fly between Prince and the cunning bounty hunter.

The only trouble? Nadia wants him too.

"Most men can only handle me in small doses."

Charming takes place after Two Minutes by Dannika Dark. I thought this was going to be a novella since it's one of those inbetweener books, but it was a full length novel. I wasn't sure what I'd think of Prince, but he grew on me. We've seen him here and there through the Seven series, but now we really get to know him. I'm still not sold on Nadia, but I loooved her sister, Katarina! She's a hoot! I'd love to be her friend! Nadia and Prince are cut from the same cloth. Katarina is a different fabric entirely. So, who will he choose? There's a lot of adventure, steaminess, and fun in this one. It's full of everything I love about this series!

Book Review! P.S. I Like You by Kasie West

P.S. I Like You by Kasie West
Genre: Young Adult (Contemporary Romance)
Date Published: July 26, 2016
Publisher: Point

Signed, sealed, delivered…

While spacing out in chemistry class, Lily scribbles some of her favorite song lyrics onto her desk. The next day, she finds that someone has continued the lyrics on the desk and added a message to her. Intrigue!

Soon, Lily and her anonymous pen pal are exchanging full-on letters—sharing secrets, recommending bands, and opening up to each other. Lily realizes she’s kind of falling for this letter writer. Only, who is he? As Lily attempts to unravel the mystery and juggle school, friends, crushes, and her crazy family, she discovers that matters of the heart can’t always be spelled out…

P.S. I Love You by Kasie West was an adorable story. I enjoyed everything about it. I loved how Lily and her mystery man got to know each other through notes back and forth. The whole note writing thing in general brought back pleasant high school memories for me. They were entertaining both in the notes and when they were face to face. Lily was easy to relate to. My high school self would have loved being her friend. This was a sweet story and very hard to put down. I loved it! I found this book at just the right time, because I really needed a fun story to get lost in. I' all about lovey dovey this week, and this was yet another perfect Valentine's week read!

Release Day Review! The Corner of Heartbreak and Forever by Addison Cole

The Corner of Heartbreak and Forever (Sweet with Heat: Standalone Novel) by Addison Cole
Genre: Adult Fiction (Contemporary Romance)
Date Published: February 13, 2019
Publisher: World Literary Press

In The Corner of Heartbreak and Forever…
Leaving New York City and returning to her hometown to teach a screenplay writing class seems like just the break Grace Montgomery needs. Until her sisters wake her at four thirty in the morning to watch the hottest guys in town train wild horses and she realizes that escaping her sisters’ drama-filled lives was a lot easier from hundreds of miles away. To make matters worse, she spots the one man she never wanted to see again—ruggedly handsome Reed Cross.

Reed was one of Michigan’s leading historical preservation experts, but on the heels of catching his girlfriend in bed with his business partner, his uncle suffers a heart attack. Reed cuts all ties and returns home to Oak Falls to run his uncle’s business. A chance encounter with Grace, his first love, brings back memories he’s spent years trying to escape.

Grace is bound and determined not to fall under Reed’s spell again—and Reed wants more than another taste of the woman he’s never forgotten. When a midnight party brings them together, passion ignites and old wounds are opened. Grace sets down the ground rules for the next three weeks. No touching, no kissing, and if she has it her way, no breathing, because every breath he takes steals her ability to think. But Reed has other ideas…

The Corner of Heartbreak and Forever is a standalone Sweet with Heat novel by Addison Cole. I absolutely loved this second chance romance. Grace and Reed's chemistry was intoxicating. I loved following them through the awkward reuniting stage and right on to the cuteness, not to mention the steamy bits. I loved the country setting too. It all fit. This was one of those stories you could just easily live vicariously through. This author always creates amazing supporting characters too. This one was no different. I'd really like to read some of their stories as well. I love getting lost in these Sweet with Heat novels! This was the perfect Valentine's week story!

“I can’t do this here.”
“No hiding from the truth, remember?”
She lowered her voice to a harsh whisper as party goers began gathering around the fire. “I’m not hiding, but I’m not going to air our dirty laundry around all these gossip mongers.”
He put a hand on her lower back, guiding her away from the bonfire. “Then let’s do it in private.”
Unsure if she wanted to lay her heart on the line after all, she glanced up the hill toward the parking area and considered leaving, but how could she? She’d ridden over with Sable, and her sister would need her truck to get herself and all her gear home.
“Come on,” he said, urging her toward the hill with his hand on her back again. “I’ve got a jacket in my truck you can use to keep warm, and we’ll find someplace private to talk.”
Her pulse quickened at the idea of being alone with him, even though she knew once they started talking, her hurt wouldn’t allow for any line crossing. “You’re soaked. Maybe we should do this another time.”
“I’m fine, and we’re doing this now,” he said sternly.
“When did you get so pushy?”
His eyes narrowed. “Since kissing the woman who still sets my world on fire after a freaking decade.”
There was no mistaking the authority in his tone, and heaven help her, because all her loneliest parts were waving surrender flags.

Book Review! Enzo by K Webster

Enzo by K Webster
Genre: Adult Fiction (Contemporary Romance)
Date Published: January 28, 2019
Publisher: Self

Jenna’s grown up in the system.
Forced to be tough, wary, and hard.

She’s only been able to count on herself.
Until Enzo.
He’s much older and responsible for looking after her.
What should be a job to him, evolves into much more.

Late night phone calls.
Lingering touches.
A forbidden fire that burns brighter each day.

Everything about him exudes strength.
His will to protect her is more than she could ever ask for.
Sadly, though, even heroes have their limitations.

But she doesn’t need a hero.
She just needs him.

Enzo by K Webster felt more like a somewhat forbidden love story rather than something that was completely taboo. After reading My Torin, my expectations were very high going into this book, and I have to say, it fell a little short for me. Their romance was fairly easy. Jenna was so close to turning 18 when they met that there really wasn't a whole lot of romantic build up before they could be together. They were very careless with it too.. on many levels. Also, other adults didn't have anything critical to say about their relationship. So, that also made it feel less taboo and more like a normal contemporary romance. Honestly, I'm okay with that. Give me a good contemporary romance any day. I enjoyed these characters quite a bit. Enzo's behavior surprised me once the romance started. Rawr! For the most part, it was a quick and cute read. Sure, Jenna was met with conflict from various foster parents through the book, but as a whole, it was pretty smooth sailing for these characters.

This author is a fantastic story teller. She really knows how to pull you into the lives of her characters.

Release Day Review! Tanner by Lauren Runow & Jeannine Colette

Tanner (Sexton Brothers #3) by Lauren Runow and Jeannine Colette
Genre: Adult Fiction (Contemporary Romance)
Expected publication: January 2019
Publisher: Self

“A kiss was all I needed.”
“Looks like you got what you wished for.”
“Yes. About that…”

I was supposed to find a finely dressed businessman, have a one-night stand and forget about my failed relationship. Instead, I meet Tanner Sexton—a gorgeous man in street clothes, messy hair and the sexiest smile I’ve ever seen.

When my ex shows up at the bar, Tanner notices my panic and kisses me just so the prick can see. Then he takes off, leaving me breathless.

So, I do what any rational person would. I chase after him onto the subway, and embark on a wild night in New York City with a complete stranger.

No matter how much I fight it, this mysterious artist painted his soul onto my skin, and I haven’t been able to forget him. Our romance is one for the ages, but age isn’t the only thing standing in our way.

Tanner is the final book in the Sexton Brothers trilogy by Lauren Runow & Jeannine Colette. This is Tanner's story! I liked Tanner a lot. I'm a fan of all the brothers. I can't pick a favorite, as I like them all for different reasons. I enjoyed the way Tanner and Harper first met. It was a bit different the usual, and they didn't like each each other right off the bat.. well, they did, but they didn't. They had some definite chemistry that only built up more and more through the story. These two were pretty hot together. I wanted to kick Harper in the pants a few times, but I liked how Tanner handled the situations. Also, the subplot involving the brother's father is wrapped up nicely. I had a hunch about what was what, but I did't know all the details. Honestly, there was a detail or two, I didn't expect. I'm sad to see this trilogy end, but I'm very happy with how everything came together.

The ARC of Tanner by Lauren Runow & Jeannine Colette was kindly provided to me by WordSmith Publicity for review. The opinions are my own.
