The Blurb:
Months after their brutal victory over Aiden and his hierarchy of Wizards, Charlotte and Valek have returned from Prague to their home in the Bohemian Occult City. However, this time, they are joined by their new band of misfit, magical friends. In the light of day, all seems to be at peace now that the Regime has been toppled, and the coven of rogue monsters has finally found their freedom. But Charlotte soon discovers that much like her adopted Vampire family, she has developed a strange addiction of her own. Her new disease is destroying her from the inside out, and Valek finds himself at a loss as he defies all odds to save her life. Danger continues to lurk around every corner and they realize that their happily-ever-after has not ended so happily after all, in this highly anticipated sequel of the Of Light and Darkness series.

The Review:
The Vampire's Reflection is the second book in the Of Light and Darkness series by Shayne Leighton. I highly recommend that you read The Vampire's Daughter first, if you haven't done so already. Check out my review of The Vampire's Daughter! In The Vampire's Reflection, things are getting a little darker for the lives of the characters in this series. They are dealing with unusual addictions, new dangers, new challenges, and feelings that are unfamiliar to them. Not to mention the new characters, who I'm not so sure which are good or bad yet, but I'm enjoying them all the same. I'm not completely convinced of Valek's love for Charlotte. In book one, she was his hunter, and brought his "food" to him by going out on her own and luring humans in. In book two, he uses her as bait, which presents all new dangers. There were several situations in The Vampire's Reflection that made me question his thought process in regards to poor Charlotte. If you really loved someone, you wouldn't put them in these situations. That's my opinion anyway. On the other hand, it seems like he doesn't know how to love a human, but I think he is finally figuring out his feelings for her in relation to the whole vampire vs human love scenario. Is it too late though? There is a new character who I'm really liking so far. I'm not sure if this will become a love triangle, or go in an entirely different direction, but I already like him better as a love interest for Charlotte. So, I guess we'll see what happens. This book definitely gives you a lot to think about. This series is definitely intriguing, and with each book, you're given more to anticipate and ponder. With a topic like vampires, that's been written about so much, it's hard to find something that presents you with new ideas. Shayne Leighton gives you originality in her stories, and she does it well!
