Book Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Genre: Young Adult (Dystopian/Science Fiction)

Insurgent is the second book in the Divergent Trilogy. If you haven't read Divergent yet, I highly recommend you do so before reading this review. What are you waiting for? Also, check out my review of Divergent.

Insurgent takes off seamlessly were Divergent ended. I am really enjoying Tris's character. She seems real to me now. I never thought about this before reading Insurgent, but so many heroines out there go through some pretty traumatic stuff, and they stay strong and seemingly unaffected emotionally. Though Tris remains strong, it seems to me that she shows some symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and rightfully so after everything she survived and witnessed in Divergent and continues to do so in Insurgent. This really brought her to life for me, because that behavior is something I could see happening to a real person. With past series and trilogies, I rarely enjoy the sequel as much as the first book. This is definitely not the case with Insurgent. This book pulled me further and further into it's world. There are twists you don't see coming, full of suspense, betrayal, and danger. This trilogy is shaping up to be the best I have read in a very long time.
