Katelyn McBride’s life changed in an instant when her mother died. Uprooted from her California home, Katelyn was shipped to the middle of nowhere, Arkansas, to her only living relative, her grandfather. And now she has to start over in Wolf Springs, a tiny village in the Ozark Mountains. Like any small town, Wolf Springs has secrets. But the secrets hidden here are more sinister than Katelyn could ever imagine. It’s a town with a history that reaches back centuries, spans continents, and conceals terrifying truths. And Katelyn McBride is about to change everything.

Broken families, ageless grudges, forced alliances, and love that blooms in the darkest night—welcome to Wolf Springs..

Unleashed is the first book in the Wolf Springs Chronicles by Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguié. I've seen this book compared to Twilight quite a bit, but I think it tells a story all its own. Okay sure,  Katelyn is the new girl in school who now has to live with a disgruntled family member(in this case her grandfather), but the similarities pretty much stop there. There is no insta love per say. She's attracted to a couple guys, both in different ways. For Bella, it was always Edward. For Katelyn, neither have become her Edward, yet. And, I'm not quite sure which of them, if either of them, are trustworthy. So, no.. this isn't a wolfy version of Twilight.

This was a very entertaining book. Katelyn is dealing with grief plus all this change. She's used to the big city, and now she's in the middle of nowhere, far away from any of her friends. So, shes going through a lot to begin with, and it only gets worse as she learns more and more about her secretive town and the people in it. These wolves are pretty gruff for the most part, and I really haven't figured out who to trust yet, but that's part of the fun of this story. It kept me wondering who was going to turn on her and who wasn't. The guys are definitely steamy, and like I said, she has a different sort of attraction to both of them. I can't say much more, because reading it for yourself is more fun, but I will say, things get intense. Actually, there's a lot of intensity among the wolves in general. I'm not talking romantically anymore, it's just that they have an intense pack dynamic. They are definitely very feral in a lot of ways.
