Teaser Tuesday! Emerge by Tobie Easton

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by The Purple Booker
Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share  doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
My teaser this week is from Emerge by Tobie Easton

When humans place shells against their ears, they hear the ocean. My science teacher says it’s the echo of your own body’s blood flow and the amplified noises from nearby, but that’s only because he doesn’t have any other explanation.

Lia Nautilus may be a Mermaid but she’s never lived in the ocean. Ever since the infamous Little Mermaid unleashed a curse that stripped Mer of their immortality, war has ravaged the Seven Seas. Now Lia lives in a secret community of land-dwelling Mer hidden among Malibu’s seaside mansions and attends high school with humans. To protect everyone around her, she must limit her contact with non-Mer. No exceptions. But when the new girl sets her sights on Lia's crush, she will risk exposing her deadly secret to stop Clay from falling in love with the wrong girl.

  1. I never have enough mermaid books. This sounds good. And I like to think the sounds in sea shells are creatures whispering in the ocean:)

  4. Wondering what the other explanation is for the sound in the sea shells. I like the theory of the land bound Mer. Sounds like an interesting read. Hope you're enjoying it. And thanks for coming by!
