Blog Tour: Review of Katrina, The Beginning by Elizabeth Loraine

Genre: Young Adult (Paranormal Romance)

The Blurb:
"As a Vampire, being hunted was nothing new. Finding our that I had to protect those that were hunting us was."

The High Regent has called members of each royal vampire family to council. Katrina Van Dracek wonders what this will mean to her. Does the Council really intend to send the young royals to start a new clan in the Americas or is there something else? All Katrina's vampire senses tell her evil is all around them and that she will be the one called upon to save them all.

The Review:
If I had to pick one word to describe Katrina, The Beginning, that word would be: quick. This is good and bad. The story kept you moving from one thing to the next leaving little time to get bored, which was nice. While I felt the pacing was okay for some things, there were other things that I would liked to have explored a little more. For example, I was pretty bothered when Katrina fell in love with one guy, who I really liked, and immediately dumped him and fell in love with another guy, who I'm still not sure I trust. I would have liked to see some kind of progression in either relationship before they reached "in love" status. There was also a part where, had I been Katrina, I would have wanted to know more rather than just blindly trusting some people who had been absent from my life for so long. I know! I have trust issues! Trust still has to be earned, and I wouldn't have been so quick to accept their story without question like Katrina was. I really enjoyed the camaraderie among the girls though. I was okay with how fast they seemed to bond as friends and develop their abilities. I loved the power and confidence these girls have. They are a female super power. I think that is something great for young readers to connect with. As a young reader, I would have absolutely loved this story.
