Book Review: Carrier of the Mark by Leigh Fallon

Genre: Young Adult (Paranormal Romance)

After moving around the United States a few times, Megan Rosenberg is surprised to feel so at home in Ireland. She's made some great new friends and even has an instant attraction to the handsome Adam, whose family is the topic of many rumors and speculation around town. She soon finds out that their relationship can have severe if not fatal consequences.

Carrier of the Mark is the first book in the Carrier Series written by Leigh Fallon. There were so many similarities to Twilight in the first few chapters, it was distracting. While, I'm a fan of The Twilight Saga, I like originality more. Some of the characters and situations reminded me so much of Twilight, I expect a vampire to show up at any moment. Thankfully, they never did. In fact, I really enjoyed the supernatural aspect this story had once it was revealed. Part of the fun was trying to figure out what the DeRÍs's are or if all the stories really were rumors. The premise behind this book was interesting, and once you got past the first few chapters, the book came more into its own.

  1. I've heard many people say the same thing and I have to agree - I haven't read this book yet but I can see why it's distracting. I think I'll have to give this one a shot and pick it up some time. :)

  3. The Twilight similarities kind of got to me, too - Aine REALLY reminded me of Alice, for example, and Adam was a little TOO similar to Edward for my taste. I really think with the sequel, Leigh will set her series apart from Twilight - I hope. Because like you, I also really enjoyed the supernatural aspect! Great review, Gabby!
